Professional Singer     Comedian

I was born at a very young age in Harrow, Middlesex, UK.  Family life was fun and I grew up in a loving, happy, musical  family and during those early years I developed a great love of music. In fact my love of music is inbred in my family. My uncles, Bert and Bill, were amateur opera singers. My mother, Charlotte, played the piano and the violin.  My brother Graham plays the piano and writes music. My eldest brother Colin was in the London Evangelistic Male Voice Choir and  my father, George, had a wonderful singing voice.  We had a  trombone and tuba in the house which I used to try to play, but I did not do very well. However, because I showed an interest in all things brass, Graham bought me a trumpet for £6 in 1956 (a lot of money for the year) and that I did learn to master and I still play it as part of my act today.

My first school was Priestmead middle and then Belmont Secondary Modern. When I left I became a Dental Technician and on completing my apprenticeship I stayed at the same laboratory  till '71, after which I changed trades completely and started working in a shop as a trainee manager.  I stayed in retail management until I decide to change from semi-professional to professional singer.

From the age of twelve I was in the Boy's Brigade and its a period of my life I would not change for the world. I enjoyed every minute of it. Over six years I went from small novice boy to small Lieutenant officer.  Out of all the many wonderful memories, there are three that stand out.
1] As a boy I was part of the drill squad and a bugler in the band when the company won top places at the Royal Albert Hall in 1965/6 for the Daily Telegraph Shield (Drill) and the Devonshire Cup (Band) and that was from the whole of the UK.  If my memory serves me correctly, we were only the second company ever to achieve this double.
2] As an Officer I was in charge of the massed bands at a massive event at the Wembley Arena where Cliff Richard was the special guest.
3] It was at a BB camp at Beer, Devon in 1964 when I realised that life would be a lot better if I put God at the centre of my life and I did, and it was, and it still is.
Right from my young days I had a bubbly personality, a sense of fun and an ability to make people laugh, but for the most part all it did was to get me into all sorts of trouble. Still, I guess it showed the beginnings of the professional entertainer that I am today.  As I remember, it was my mother who was the first person to tell me I had a lovely singing voice and so I made a point of developing it.  Over the last 30 years or so I have had the privilege of entertaining many thousands of people both in the UK and around the world.  I have had the privilege of working with some wonderful well known (and not so well known) people in a variety of venues.

I met the girl of my dreams in the late summer of 1964 (actually, I never dreamt about her, but it's a good lead in though) We courted for just over eighteen months, getting engaged in 1966 and then married in 1967  We now have three grown up children and two granddaughters.
